“I want full coverage” is a reasonable place to start. It is not a clear enough description to finish an insurance decision.

For your Waco household, the useful question is what the policy would do in the situations you are concerned about. Ask about specific coverages, limits, deductibles, and exclusions instead of relying on a label.

Know the basic pieces

Liability coverage addresses covered injuries or property damage you cause to others. Collision generally addresses damage to your vehicle from a collision; comprehensive addresses certain other losses, such as theft or hail. Uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage and rental reimbursement are separate items to discuss. None of these means every possible loss is covered. TDI: Auto insurance guide

Ask these 6 questions

1. What are my liability limits? Ask for the dollar amounts and an explanation of how the limits apply. A useful conversation should consider more than the cost of repairing your own car.

2. What would I pay if my car were damaged? Write down the collision and comprehensive deductibles separately. Do not assume they match.

3. What if the other driver cannot pay? Ask whether uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage is included, what it addresses, and which limits or deductibles apply.

4. How would I get around during repairs? Ask whether rental reimbursement is included, what triggers it, and what daily and total limits apply. A rental car benefit is not the same question as coverage for damage you cause to a rental car.

5. Are all the drivers and uses accurately described? Discuss household drivers, where vehicles are kept, commuting, delivery work, and other business use. Give the actual situation rather than the answer you think produces a lower quote.

6. What does my lender or lease require? Share the requirements and ask whether the proposed coverage meets them. Satisfying those requirements still leaves you with choices about your broader protection.

Make the answers easy to compare

Create a 1 page list with a row for each question and a column for each quote. Leave a blank when you do not know an answer. That blank is a reason to ask a question before choosing, not a reason to assume the policies are equivalent.

Your next step: Start an Auto quote and ask for the coverage details behind the price.
